Check out the Anything But Three East

This Sunday there will be a gathering of surfers who prefer a surfboard that gets its drive from anything but three fins. The “retro” surfboard has made a resurgence in the past couple of years. People are learning again to enjoy the surfboards that have shaped design over the past 3 decades. From the bonzer to the twin fish to the more functional quad, retro shapes are being combined with modern materials and performance standards. This has led to a rediscovery of the joy of surfing on all of the different types of boards. A true stylist should be able to surf all surfboard types in all conditions.

The Anything But Three East is a celebration of this going down Sunday in Harvey Cedars. So hopefully the ocean produces a small bump to really see how these boards can surf. Maybe I will bust out my Hess Lola Quad- www.hesssurfboards.com- and turn some heads. The Hess boards are 100% green and mold form with function. They are some of the most beautiful boards if have ever seen. I am stoked the beauty and design of these boards matches their performance. With the great waves we had early this week, I got to test her out. The Lola really is amazing. Check them out in Farias and Pine this spring if you want to see true perfection in a surfboard!

It now has a more relaxed entry rocker, completely new bottom contours and a wider tail. This board is engineered to be faster and looser than any of his previous small wave models. Due to Kelly’s recent experimentation the Ksmall is also available in a quad fin set-up. Kelly finds, as a quad, the board feels much freer out of turns than his tri fin. Built up to 6’8”.
